Jess Kruckeberg is an operations battalion commander with the Colorado Springs FireDepartment in Colorado Springs, CO. He has been with the fire department for 28 yearsand works in the broadly defined emergency services industry. He began his career asa firefighter/EMT and has held many roles in the department since.
Jess likes to say that if you have an event/emergency and are not sure whether to call aplumber or a cop, call the fire department.
He grew up in Jackson, MS and at that time, had no inkling that being a firefighter wasin his future. After high school he attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs andthis became his hometown for the past 30+ years! As a member of the firedepartment, he has responded to thousands of emergencies of all different kinds. Someevents are very serious such as structure fires and heart attacks, but others may includeminor traffic accidents and lost hikers. A duty shift is never boring!
When not on duty he enjoys spending time with family as well as working out, hiking,mountain biking, and reading.
Jess is always willing to share with other’s the great work of the fire department and togive back by bringing interested people into the world of first responders andfirefighters.
